A Brief History of Mama Toucan’s

Mama Toucan’s began with a simple idea: bring real, wholesome, organic food to Dominical.

What started as a small natural foods market has grown into a centerpiece of the community — a place locals and travelers rely on for quality, trust, and the comfort of healthy choices.

From the beginning, we focused on sourcing the best organic and natural ingredients possible, long before “clean eating” became a trend in Costa Rica.

 

We built relationships with farmers, makers, and small producers throughout the country, giving local artisans and growers a venue to share their craft with the world. As our community grew, so did our selection — fresh organic produce, natural groceries, supplements, clean body-care, sustainable household goods, and specialty items you couldn’t find anywhere else in the southern zone.

 

Over the years, Mama Toucan’s has become more than a store. It’s a meeting place, a resource, a shared commitment to better living. We proudly support local initiatives, community events, sustainability efforts, and programs that make Dominical stronger and healthier. Giving back has always been part of who we are.
